CAROLYN HALL:
Opened the meeting with prayer. Minutes were approved.

FRANK SPOLRICH
The new Spanish Teacher, Lauren Miller, begins Jan. 3.

The school had a Lockdown Drill. They must do one a year. They will do Tornado Drills in March and April. They do a Fire Drill each month.

The school enrollment is 497. Enrollment priorities are determined by the Parish Council.

They have decided not to have an All Day Kindergarten Program. To accommodate such a program they would have to give up some quality programs they already provide.

The School Calendar for 2008-2009 will be out in January. It will be similar to this year with a full two week break for Christmas. The Dayton Deanery has asked all schools to have a Professional Day the Friday before Labor Day. Our school also schedules off the Monday in May after First Eucharist.

The school needs a volunteer to put the Student and Faculty Handbooks on computer.

The Superintendent of Kettering Schools is authorized by the Principal in the beginning of the year to put St. Albert on the Kettering Schools Closing List. They have people on the streets starting at 4:00 am.

Mrs. Petrello has a full time job and is withdrawing as Spiritual Life Leader. She will help transition anyone who will help with the program.

One Smart Board has been installed in Christine Evans room. They are planning for a second one. With the help of the PTO the school will be purchasing a new copier with a server sometime after Spring Break. They are looking to purchase 30 laptops for the school. Meg Dreager asked if the School Foundation Fund might be used for these laptops. Frank replied that the fund was used for the Spanish Teacher this year. Her salary is in the budget next year so these funds might be available. Concerns were also voiced about the difficulty of communicating with teachers by e-mail due to Medeca filters.
The current Strategic Plan runs out in 08. It needs to be launched next year with reaccredidation in two years.

JULIE PENNO
A volunteer is needed to work with 2 to 5 children in the RCIA for Children Program.

ACRE testing will begin in grades 5 and 8 in January. This is a Survey Test to help us evaluate our Religious Education Programs.

Vocations Week is Jan. 13-19. Lesson Plans were given to the Teachers on the topic of Discernment.

The R.E. Teachers met and discussed : Lectionary based lessons
Parental involvement
Reconciliation
R.E. class times
Some good ideas were shared. They will keep us informed of future steps.

An Advent Prayer Service for Junior High R.E. students was scheduled for Sunday Dec. 16. It was to be led by Father Aultz and members of the High School Youth Group. The Junior High R.E. Students were working on Christmas Cards for parishioners in nursing homes and for troops in Iraq. They are also making lunches for the homeless.

Julie planned to take 10 eighth graders to St. Leonard’s on Dec. 17 to participate in Christmas Mass for parishioners. They would also serve lunch and sing Christmas Carols

Father Aultz and Dick Strominger have been teaching Confirmation to the R.E. students and St. Albert students. They have put together some great lesson plans.

Candidates for Confirmation will begin Faith Discussions in January with priests and various staff members. They will write a short essay on how the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can make a difference in their lives. They will include why they are going through this process and their future goals as a Catholic.

Julie has taught 20 eighth graders to be sacristans. They are setting up for Wed. Mass.

TINA WAGONER
Technology Report. Tina passed out a report. Technology at St. Albert is overseen by a technology committee. This committee is comprised of Katie O’Neil, business manager, Joe Stuber, Frank Spolrich, Brian Guillespie, St. Albert Technology Teacher, Gary Hartman, Bill Petrello and a teacher rep. The committee is open to parishioners who would like to be involved.
They meet once a quarter and their purpose is to:
Oversee technology in the school
Discuss Funding
Share ideas in order to keep the technology program up to date to parish and
School staff as well as the archdiocese.

MEG DRAEGER
Voiced concern about the lack of coverage of St. Albert in the media. Tina has a media list she will give to Frank Spolrich.

ANN MILLONIG
Visited the Wednesday Evening Bible Study. They do not only focus on the formal study but greatly enjoy discussion and discernment of how to apply what they learn to daily living. Ann passed out a report on what they are currently studying. She also explained to them the mission and vision statements of the Education Commission..

CAROLYN HALL
Passed out a report from Dick Strominger on Adult Faith Formation. It included the following points:
He is working on a Lenten series and is open for theme suggestions.
R.E. teachers have voiced a concern that parents are picking up their children
after 9:30 Mass and the children are not getting the opportunity to attend Mass.
Still awaiting feedback on the Whole Community Catechesis approach. Literature
from Harcourt is under review.
Consider establishing Adult faith Formation committee after the holidays.
